Basics of Quantum Physics

The basics of quantum physics may be a topic you would expect to see on a science site for high-level scientists. In this context, quantum physics is discussed from the human potential point of view. Now I may be the last person you would expect to be qualified to speak about the basics of quantum physics, being an athletic coach and all. However, athletic coaching is not all that I do. As you can gather from reading through this site, the real theme is human potential as a whole, not just the physical.

What are the Basics of Quantum Physics?

Quantum physics is a rather esoteric branch of science that deals with discrete, invisible, almost undetectable units of energy referred to by quantum physicists as quanta.

The five main areas represented by quantum theory are…

  • Energy is not continuous, it comes in small units.

  • The elemental particles behave like particles and like waves.

  • The movement of these particles is inherently random.

  • It is physically impossible to know both the momentum and position of the particle at the same time. The more precisely one can be detected, the less measurable the other one is.

  • The atomic world is nothing like the world in which we really live in.

At first this may seem like yet another crazy theory by rogue scientists, but quantum physics holds many clues as to the fundamental nature of the universe and everything in it. The universe and all individual events seem to most people on the surface level to be independent of other factors. However, quantum physics points out that everything is connected in one way or another. There is no such thing as isolated circumstances.

The Basics of Quantum Physics

This is a topic you would expect to not understand. I have studied many research papers on even just the basics of quantum physics and have gotten lost many times despite my natural curiosity towards science and understanding.

So lets not look at the basics of quantum physics in general, lets look at it with a purpose in mind. What is that purpose? The purpose of this topic is to discuss your own potential and life itself from a quantum physical perspective.

The Holographic Nature of the Human Brain: The part is in the whole and the whole is in the part

Have you ever seen a hologram? If you have you will understand somewhat how it works. You can create a large hologram then split up the image. What happens to the hologram? Do you only get part of it? No, you still get the whole thing, the only difference is that it is smaller. Keep breaking it down and you still get yet a smaller version of the whole, yet it’s still the whole.

Another example; take an apple tree for instance. An apple tree looks like a mighty creation. So much science must be involved in that apple tree. How is it created? When you eat an apple you get to the core and begin getting seeds right? You plant a seed and it grows into a massive apple tree, one different from the one that the original apple was picked from.

What was needed? All that went into the creation of that apple tree was a seed. One tiny seed. There was also the necessity for ultra violet light and water etc, but the apple tree was entirely created by that tiny seed. The code for that entire tree was in that seed, then the seed will grow, produce another tree, create more fruit, which contains more seeds and the cycle starts again. Amazing isn’t it?

This is how the whole universe is. The part is in the whole and the whole is in the part. That means that everything is a part of something greater and also a manifestation of smaller things. The whole universe is made up, on some level, of the exact same fundamental thing. So everything is connected to everything else. This applies not only to matter but also to time and space as well.

Now back to the topic at hand. The holographic nature of the human brain, or any animal’s brain for that matter. This is something that could be appropriately discussed by neurologists, but as you can see, it is yet another topic, like all other topics that are appropriate in a discussion about the basics of quantum physics.

A scientist by the name of Karl Pribram ran experiments on the holographic nature of the human brain. He would teach rats to run a maze. Once it was unconsciously ingrained he would have part of the rat’s brain removed and then put it through the maze again. The rat surprisingly was able to run the maze. He kept doing this until all that was left was the brain stem. The rats could still run the maze despite having no actual brain besides the part responsible for basic life-sustaining functions.

What this was later used to prove was that the brain is holographic in nature, meaning that everything in the memory is stored in each and every single cell in the brain. This was used to debate the theory that memory and skill were stored geographically in the brain.

Later this research was theorised by others even further to suggest that all memory, including memory from before life, is stored in each and every cell of a living organism. That makes sense in a strange way too. It makes sense when you consider memory as not just thoughts, but also includes even genetic coding. That code is established and refined from the beginning of time itself.

The Quantum Facts

I understand that even the basics of quantum physics may be hard to grasp for most people who have never had the inclination to research it. However, it is a highly relevant topic for everyone in every field.

The following is a summary of the basics of quantum physics as discussed by Christopher Howard from a personal development and potential standpoint. The original work was published in his book Turning Passions Into Profits.

In 1927, physicist Werner Heisenberg published The Uncertainty Principle. It had many implications and started a major debate about the nature of reality that would rage for about 55 years.

It was popular for many decades to believe that the universe followed the laws of Newtonian physics - that a “real world” existed independently of us, regardless of what we did in it. Heisenberg blew that assumption apart with his conclusions on particle behaviour.

Heisenberg’s theory on particles states that the more precisely the position is determined, the less precisely the momentum is known. Translated into classical physics, this meant that, contrary to popular belief, the future motion of a particle could not be exactly predicted from a knowledge of its present position and momentum and all the forces acting on it.

Heisenberg basically concluded that there is really no concrete reality. Rather, reality depended on who or what was observing it. In quantum research, when scientists expected a wave to be a wave, it did indeed behave like one. When they expected a particle to be a particle, so it was. This means that it doesn’t exist until we look for it to exist.

This is where all the Law of Attraction stuff came from. Things such as The Secret. If reality is not set in stone then it can be altered simply through expectation and observation. Reality is, in essence, created and shaped by the observer and the experiencer of that reality.

Where it gets interesting is when David Bohm took what’s known as The Aspect Experiment and went a step further. He suggested that objective reality does not exist at all. Despite the universe’s apparent solidity, it is essentially an illusion - a gigantic, intricately detailed and complex holographic illusion.

We touched earlier on holograms. Lets look at what a hologram is before we go on. A hologram is a three-dimensional image made with the aid of a laser. To make a hologram, the object is first cast in the light of a laser beam. Then a second laser beam is bounced off the reflected light of the first. The point where they meet is captured on film. When the film is developed it looks like a swirl of light and dark lines. But as soon as the developed film is illuminated by another laser beam, a three dimensional image of the original object appears.

So as we already covered, you could cut that holographic image in half and it would still produce a whole image, just a smaller version of it.

The universe is holographic in nature, therefore everything in it is a part of the whole. So the whole universe is inside everything. Imagine that, the information and resources of the entire universe is inside of you. This may go a long way towards explaining why the law of attraction holds so much weight.

David Bohm states that the separateness of particles is just an illusion. This is because experiments have shown that particles can appear to be communicating instantaneously. That’s because they are not communicating at all, they are just parts of the same whole.

Bohm uses the following analogy to illustrate what he means: Imagine you are watching an aquarium on two TV screens. There is a camera set up monitoring it. You notice that on one screen the fish moves and the fish on the other screen makes a corresponding move at the same time. You might say that’s amazing, they must be communicating. But you are watching that two screens, which are observing one aquarium, their separateness is simply an illusion.

So if separateness is just an illusion, we must all be interconnected on some level. As Howard puts it, “we are swimming in an ocean of pure potentiality”. Modern science is now starting to state what philosophers have been stating for thousands of years and that is that we are one with everything in the universe. This is now a part of reality, not just religious or alternative belief.

Everything is just one big energy manifesting in almost infinite diversity. Scientists have now studied that at the minute level, smaller than the atom, there is more space than there is solid matter. So under the highest powered microscope if you were to look at your arm it would mostly be space, not atoms. According to quantum field theorists, 99.999 percent of the solid universe is actually made up of void and emptiness. The subatomic particles are impulses of energy and information. It is the quantity and arrangement of atoms that gives the appearance of solidity. The density of the arrangement and vibratory rate determine the form that something takes in the material world. So everything in the world is made up of the same stuff. A jeep, a lion, a brick and a butterfly are all the same, it’s just that the atoms are arranged differently and they vibrate at a different rate, giving the apparently unique appearance.

The mind-boggling aspect of all of this research and theory is that if the concreteness of the world is just a secondary reality and what is there is actually just a holographic blur of frequencies, and if the brain is also a hologram and only selects some of the frequencies out of this blur and transforms them into sensory perceptions, what then becomes of objective reality?

Put simply, it ceases to exist. As religions have long believed, the material world is simply maya, an illusion, and although we may think we are physical beings moving through a physical world, this, too, is an illusion. Physical reality is just one view taken from an infinite sea of possibility.

Think about it. If reality is different for everyone because everyone translates frequency differently, and therefore everyone chooses a different experience, doesn’t it then follow that if you can understand more about the way you personally translate these frequencies, you then have the power to change the world? So if you don’t enjoy the world, then change it, it’s possible, you are already changing it anyway.

That was a loose summary of the appendix in Chris Howard’s book. It makes some very real points on reality as it relates to the basics of quantum physics.

Masters of The Universe

Contrast miserable, frustrated, unsuccessful people with the leaders of the world. Could it be that the leaders and influential people throughout history understood the basics of quantum physics? I mean instinctively, not necessarily knowingly. Think about it, what makes the difference between outstanding people and ordinary people? We all have the basic opportunity level of all the most successful people.

This is where understanding even just the basics of quantum physics can open up a whole new world to you. The law of attraction is a theory that suggests you attract things into your life that you vibrate on a similar frequency to. This might not be hogwash after all. I mean think about it, there are people in this world that started with nothing and now they are world leaders or masters of invention. This didn’t happen through luck, no one is that lucky.

So what do the masters of the universe do to get to where they are?

  • First of all they seem to have a fundamental feeling for the basics of quantum physics, even if they don’t call it that. They just seem to know that everything is connected and that the resources are out there already, it’s just a matter of attracting them.

  • They think, behave, believe and feel in a way that vibrates well with the frequency of the desired reality. This is assumed how the law of attraction works. They are congruent.

  • They influence others to vibrate on that same level with them. No one ever does anything outstanding entirely on their own. The bigger the circle of influence the more aligned people within that circle are towards receiving opportunity.

In understanding relevant, basics of quantum physics, we need to understand that the universe is not a set structure, it is moving and vibrating all the time. The universe and reality itself changes based on its observer. So make some good observations, you’ll wish you had.
