Efficiency, Simplicity and Relaxed Effort

Efficiency seems to be a bit of a buzz word these days. It makes you think German engineering or Japanese manufacturing. Here we are talking about a universal concept.

In the spirit of simplicity we will keep this short and get the message across in the most effective way.

To start with, how efficient are you in your life? Do you get things done without wasting time on unnecessary things? Does everything you do serve a useful purpose?

I’m not talking about a rigid lifestyle with absence of fun and leisure. However most people tend to be busy continuously but never seem to get anywhere.

There is so much to pay attention to that you can’t possibly absorb it. This is one big reason for the over-complicated, over-stressed lifestyle that many people have. You want to keep up, you don’t want to miss out, you want to make the most of life. This is probably why you’re overloaded and still not living to your maximum potential.

Here’s a bit of contrast

Think of a person who seems to get everything they want with relative ease. They are relaxed and seem to simply have good luck. Now compare it to the battler. This is the person who has big goals and pursues them constantly and burns out along the way. This is the person that “tries” but never seems to make it.

The moral of the story is that much of what occupies your attention is useless and a hindrance to results. We live over-complicated lives.

Here are a few easy ways to create a flowing and seemingly effortless lifestyle…

Know your outcome: Most people only have a vague idea of what they want or think they want. Define what you want and then figure out exactly why. By having a purpose for everything, you tend to eliminate any outcomes that don’t apply.

By clearly defining your outcomes and the purpose behind them, you will immediately become more efficient.

Simplify everything: Aim to simplify everything in your life. Efficiency is about cutting away at anything that is not 100% necessary and doesn’t serve a useful purpose.

Don’t stress on the result: Let it happen. It seems we are stuck with a catch 22 situation. On one hand we all want to be achievers and believe that nothing great happens without committed effort. But on the other hand if we stress on it too much and try too hard we can get in our own way and actually hinder results.

Research shows that if a person is struggling to spell a word and keeps trying without success, they actually create a neurological pattern of failure.

So you need to put in 100% effort but without stressing on the result.

See the big picture: There is always a big picture for everything. If you look for it you will certainly find something outside of what you currently see that will help to make sense of things.

The goal is to cram more and more into larger chunks so that you don’t have to dwell on details.

Get healthy: There has never been anyone who was energetic, passionate and enjoyed every moment of their life who was fat or unhealthy. If your body functions well then your mind will be primed to also.

To sum it all up…

We live in an over-complicated world where our lives are crowded and tend to get carried away. There is so much coming in that we cannot possibly make use of it.

You need to take charge of your own efficiency and relaxed effort. Develop the awareness and sensory acuity to hack away all the crap and utilise the best.

Simplify your life, live efficiently and enjoy it! It’s that simple and need not be any more complicated than that.
