Health, Fitness and Physical Vitality

Health and fitness is the one key element that ties every other aspect discussed on this site together. Without physical vitality how can you ever hope to achieve passion and live by your own highest standards? Fitness is essential in creating a life of your own design.
Everything we do, we need to use our body in some way. Without your body being in peak shape everything else will basically be rendered almost useless. In order to enjoy all the wonderful changes taking place it is essential that you cultivate a daily habit of exercise for increased health and fitness.
How many morbidly obese and totally unhealthy people do you know who achieve in all other areas of their life? Not many I would bet. There may be some people that are unhealthy and still succeed in business and financially but without health and vitality they don’t have that extra edge that gives them drive and energy to take their life to the next level.
Have you ever seen someone who was full of energy, vibrancy, charisma etc, and was in poor physical condition? Not likely. The truth is that those with all round success, happiness and fulfilment are also those that value their health.
Here’s something to ponder for a second, you go to a car yard and need a reliable but powerful car with lots of grunt, which one do you choose? The one that is known for being reliable but takes forever to warm up and build up any speed or the car that is mostly reliable, starts first time every time and goes from 0-100 in 4 seconds?
I bet I know the answer to that. The latter is the one that you are likely to be attracted to. So why should it be any different for people? The ones that get all the opportunity and all the great success and respect in life are those that perform better.
It stands to reason that to achieve in life, exercise needs to become an important part of everyone’s lifestyle.
Imagine achieving elite fitness and unlimited energy and passion, literally take a moment now to visualise it. Now imagine being fat and unhealthy with no energy and only a passion for sleep and food.
Which one of these options would help you create a life of your choosing?
Here are 2 steps you can take right now to make exercise and physical health part of your life.
Step 1: Create a daily habit of exercise. “Well derr, how obvious, it’s not as easy as it sounds.” That’s what the old you would be saying.
I know it sounds like an obvious statement but how many people (who are not gym junkie types) can maintain their drive fitness and health? And for those who do, how do they do it?
Well to start with all you need is the enforcement of the habit, it doesn’t need to be a full on program of maximum intensity, it just needs to be something. After all, something is better than nothing.
The mode or intensity of exercise is not really important at this point, it is just the enforcement of the daily ritual of some form of physical activity.
The good news is that it doesn’t even need to last too long, it may only go for 20 minutes, as long as it becomes a consistent habit. Keep this up for a few weeks to make this pattern ingrained into your nervous system, it works kind of like smoking or eating chocolate, it becomes part of your subconcious activity except this is something you will want as a habit.

Step 2: Now all you need to do is condition your new fitness regime. By condition I mean that you need to make it part of your identity. Check out the section on values for more on making it a priority. In order to condition your new priority you need to create some kind of reward when you are consistent with your new behaviour. Associate pleasure to physical health and the exercise will become something you look forward to. Once you have conditioned fitness as a priority, you can then get into specifics and set some fitness goals for the future. Remember that you need to develop compelling reasons that are important to YOU. Now we have covered how to make health and fitness part of your lifestyle on a fundamental level and you probably have some idea of it’s importance but why exactly is it important? Well that was mentioned at the beginning of the page but why is it important to you personally? We all have different goals and passions in life, we all value certain things more than others and for each of us it is unique to our own situation and experience of life. What do you want from your life? If you’re unsure, perhaps you should think about that one, you won’t get it if you don’t know what it is. Everyone needs fitness in their life, we all need to have some level of physical health and vitality no matter what other things we want. The type of health and fitness you will aim for will of course be dependent upon how it fits your lifestyle. The point of all this is that if you experience physical health, fitness and vitality in your life, I can guarantee that everything else will be richer for it.
