Becoming a Free Spirit

Becoming a free spirit:

Are you frustrated or are you free? Now that's aninteresting question isn't it? By becoming a free spirit youcan shed the frustrations of our modern society.

Maybe the subject heading of this issue sounds a little tooairy fairy for you and maybe you don't buy into spiritualitybut this is about becoming free from all the rules imposedupon us. It applies to us all.

In my upcoming seminar Born To Win, we will be covering thistopic most extensively and learning how we can beginbecoming a free spirit.

So what does it mean to be a free spirit? Well let me tellyou, it's not the life we have been conditioned to live. Wehave been conditioned to follow many rules.

Some rules are relevant and necessary, some are senselessand some are even self imposed. Have you ever found yourselfdoing something "just because"? That's exactly what I amtalking about.

It all starts in school when we are told to sit down, listenand don't talk to the person next to you. If you happen todisagree with something the teacher says, tough, you have toagree with it anyway.

Then we leave school and finally think we are free, webelieve that after all this time we are becoming a freespirit. You go out and get a job, often one that you don'tlike.

Soon you discover that you are living in servitude of yourown circumstances and living a life designed by someoneelse. How does this happen? Can it be avoided? We willanswer that in a minute.

Ok, so some of you have gotten out there and started yourown business and believe that this frees you. It has thepotential to but it often doesn't end up that way.

You begin in business doing what you are passionate aboutand it all seems like a dream come true, and it is for some.Becoming a free spirit is beginning to take off and you feelin control.

But then you can get caught up in following the rules forwhat needs to happen and you get trapped by mainstreamthinking and freedom continues to elude you.

In either of these circumstances or even in unemployment, weget in a rut and forget our true identity. Who are youreally? Can you really be defined to by the job you go toevery day?

No matter what our circumstances are in life, if we don'tconciously choose where we end up and what we spend our timedoing then someone else will and it might not be what wewant.

Now I mentioned before that we can avoid getting in a rutand not living our dreams and true identity. Becoming a freespirit is not beyond reach, no matter how old you are and nomatter what circumstances you are experiencing.

This is one of the major topics in the Born To Win seminar. We work on your own individual identity. So what does itmean to truly be free?

For so many of us, the allure of a nice car, big house, lotsof money and popularity become very attractive. There is noproblem with aiming for these things but when it's all saidand done, they are just a means to an end.

With this temptation comes a gradual decline in your ownpassion and identity. We need to have bigger aspirationsthan money and career success. You can't possibly be definedas our job can you?

My closing advice in becoming a free spirit is this:

Know what you are passionate about, do what you feel alignswith who you truly are as a person. If you love animals thenspend time with animals, if you want to spend time with yourfamily then do it.

The point is that we believe we have no choice in doing thethings we do with our lives. At least that's the opinionshared by many many people.

Weigh up the pros and cons of doing something you arepassionate about. Is working 60+ hours per week trading onthe stock market really who you are? Or are you a person wholoves your family or spending time at the beach? We areconditioned to "need" certain things and we often sacrificethings that are much more important in order to get them.

Becoming a free spirit is well within your reach, make thedecision to do it, don't sacrifice what you are trulypassionate about or your true identity for something sotemporary as money or a car or even popularity.

I hope this has been of some value to you. I wrote this withthe thought in mind that I had once been in the position ofdoing things that I thought I had to do. I now follow mypassion, I share what I have learned and experienced becauseI want to, not because I have to.

Kind regards,

Chris Lyons.
